FLASH CARD

Different students learn in different ways, some of the challenges that every teacher encounter pertains on how to transfer knowledge appropriately through the use of various instructional materials and how to ensure that every classroom activities be more interactive and interesting.

Visual aids becomes common in terms of teaching. It helps the students to motivate themselves and promotes lateral thinking for effective absorption of the subject matter. Moreover, based on study, the majority of students learned through visual means.

Most of visual aids discussed thereto pertains to flashcards and visual symbols. Flashcards are easy to use and handy resources for teachers in presenting ideas and contents i.e vocabulary, alphabets, grammar etc. Meanwhile, visual symbols are representations of direct reality which comes in the form of signs and symbols such as drawings, sketches, cartoons, comic strips, diagrams, charts, graphs, maps and posters.

We have learned in our recent activities how to prepare the above mentioned flashcards and visual symbols. In addition, we also determined the importance of having visual aids in teaching as a supplement in the learning process of the learners.

We have to bear in mind the 6 factors in designing flashcards and visual symbols.  These are unity, simplicity, legibility, consistency, clarity and quality to make visual ideas simple and easy to recall.

For my newly created flashcards, I have picked National Heroes since they really played a very important role in achieving our country's freedom. Moreso, in attaining that freedom, they even sacrificed their lives. Though they have already died, their memories and greatness ever done in country should always be remembered and taught in our schools.
