DEMO TEACHING - FRACTION

Being a professional educator, it is common to practice our soft skills in front of many audience as well as to deliver the topic concisely, understandable and interactive.   Student participation is also a great concern to maximize the appreciation on the topic and ensure that retention of learning for the student is long term. To train us in handling classroom with 50 students as a minimum, we are tasked to select topic from basic education program K to 12 and discuss it at least 20 minutes in the classroom.   This covers the preparatory activity until closing remarks of the topic.   Based from the above, I have chosen the fundamentals and basic operation of fractions discussing what is fraction, how we can apply it in everyday life and how we can add, subtract, multiply and divide the fractions with similar and dissimilar denominator.   Further, all of this content was indicated in the prepared lesson plan for us to ensure that the flow of discussion can be presented smoot

CONTRIVED EXPERIENCES

A lot of interesting topic was introduced in our educational technology; one of subject matter we have learned is contrived experience.   Contrived experiences are substitutes of real things when it is not feasible to bring the real thing to the class.   This includes models, mock ups, specimens, objects, simulations and games. Our group is tasked to present contrived experiences about global warming.   We have demonstrated the effect of it that can harm our environment in the rural and urban area.   All of us are affected by man-made calamity such as air pollution, diseases, water pollution and flooding.   We already know that water is the most important resource on the earth and yet we ever see a river or lake around the city, it would be evident that we faced a very serious problem of water pollution.   Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies usually caused due to human activities.   It can change the physical, chemical or biological properties o

As I further advanced my knowledge in Professional Education, we have learned that visual symbols are representation of direct reality, which comes in the form of signs and symbols.  It comes from variety of forms such as cartoons, photographs, illustrations, diagrams, charts, graphs, comic strips and flash cards.  In this regards, we are tasked to think of a topic that could apply our learning about visual symbols and present the same in front of the classroom.   The first thing that came from my mind is to prepare a line graph that represents National Hero of the Philippines since they provide a lot of contribution in our country in fighting for the freedom we enjoyed today.   In addition, we also admired them for possessing intellectual brilliance and also for taking a stand and resisting the colonial government.   I have dedicated my visual symbol to commemorate their heroism and acknowledge my patriotism to the flag and country.   One thing is for sure, I can proudl
